Earth Day and Eyes

Happy Earth Day!

I suppose I'm celebrating by using reusable grocery bags today. Apparently, Park City is considering a law that would ban plastic bags. I'm all for it! That might possibly get me to remember to bring my reusable bags into the grocery store!

In other news, I've been wearing glasses for almost a month now. I normally wear contacts, but I've been going to LASIK consultations, and they require you to be out of your glasses for about two weeks before the appointment. My final consultation is tomorrow, so we'll see what they say. I got rejected at the first place. I always knew that was a very high possibility since my prescription is quite high, but I'm hoping the second place (Moran Eye Center, one of the best eye centers in the country!) gives me the go ahead. Otherwise, it's back to contacts for the foreseeable future.

The one fun part about wearing glasses, though, has been playing with fun lipstick colors! Normally, I'm more of an eye makeup kind of girl, but it's a pretty big pain to mess with eye makeup when you're practically blind without glasses. So, it's been a red and hot pink lipstick couple of weeks. Rimmel has a fantastic (and cheap!) matte lipstick collection right now - I highly recommend it!

The Makeup Process

So, I'm a believer in full disclosure. I'm not a HUGE makeup wearer and can frequently be found wandering about without it on weekends. However, I figured I'd show just what a little bit of makeup magic can do with my old standby routine. And, FYI to all those guys out there...this is a pretty low maintenance makeup routine compared to a lot of women I know. It takes a village to make us up, but we generally have fun doing it!

Pre-makeup: body butter, toner, anti-wrinkle cream, moisturizer

Ah! It's me without makeup!

Step 1: Benefit the POREfessional primer

Concealer time!

All concealed and ready for more...

Nars Orgasm blush...it's kinda famous and I kinda love it.

Me with blush, concealer, primer and Sexy Little Motherpucker from Soap and Glory

Throw on a little eyeliner and mascara and voila!

And there's the finished product!

Having a little too much fun with my new Pocket Booth app :)

Products used: Benefit the POREfessional, Maybelline Mineral Power concealer, Benefit Watts Up highlighter, Nars Orgasm blush, Maybelline Line Stiletto eyeliner, Maybelline Great Lash mascara, Soap and Glory Sexy Little Motherpucker lip gloss

How Much Does My Face Cost?

This kind of post is a little different than the kinds of things I usually post but I took my inspiration from my friend Ally's post over at her blog, 21st and Serendipity.

So, how much money does it take to get my daily makeup look?

Seeing as I don't wear a ton of makeup, I'll admit that I was a little surprised by the number I came up with!!

The Breakdown

Benefit Watts Up! Highlighter - $30.00
Maybelline Great Lash Blackest Black Mascara - $5.19
E.L.F. Creme Eyeline w/brush in Black - $4.59
Maybelline Mineral Power Liquid Concealer - $6.94
Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Rose - $22.50
Benefit "That Gal" Brightening Primer - $29.00
Benefit Sugarbomb Blush - $28.00
Benefit the POREfessional Pro Balm - $30.00
Eyelash Curler
Blush Brush

TOTAL: $156.22
(excluding brush/eyelash curler)

Man!! That's an expensive face!!

As a side note, though, I am my father's daughter and of course did not pay full price for anything on the list.  I got all my Benefit products as part of a special Christmas package they did, so I basically got $120 worth of their products for $50.  The lip treatment was part of a free birthday gift from Sephora.  I got the mascara and concealer on sale.  I guess I did pay full price for the eyeliner creme, but it retails for less than the price above at Target.  So, I guess the cost of my face is deceiving ;)

Regardless of how much I paid for the products myself, it's kinda crazy to think that at full retail, my daily makeup routine is that expensive!

So, how much does YOUR face cost??

Recently...

This is the first post of a new thing I'm going to be doing, tentatively titled "Recently..."

As many of my friends out there may know, I sometimes get a little...well, obsessed with things.  So, I figured why not embrace my quirks and have a little thing in my blog devoted to one of them?

Recently #1...Nail Polish

I've never been much of a nail polish girl.  Sure, I went through my middle school phase where I always had to have the latest neon glittery polish from Limited Too, but it never stuck.  For the vast majority of high school and college, it was either French manicure or naked nails.  I didn't care for nail color.

For some reason, though, I suddenly have had a thing for it!  My latest purchase is "No More Waity, Katie" from Butter London (which, at $14 a bottle, is also the most expensive nail polish purchase I've made).

Other polishes I've tried lately...

Ulta Jaded with Nicole by OPI Rainbow in the S-Kylie

Ulta Peach Parfait with Essie Luxe Effects Shine of the Times

OPI Banana Bandanna with Rimmel Black Satin letters

Essie Mint Candy Apple

And that's it for now :) Which is YOUR favorite?
